Información general
If you only have a short time on vacation but still want to experience the challenging curve roads in Vietnam, the best recommendation for you will be the Off-road Vietnam Motorbike Tour from Sapa to Ha Giang – 4 Days. Sapa and Ha Giang are considered the most favorite attractions in the North. The riding distance is only about 200 kilometers but requires a great deal of time and a huge effort from adventure bikers.
On this tour, you can explore plenty of rolling mountainous roads stretching along massive rice terraced fields or immense featured circuit buckwheat fields of the Northwestern area. What could be better than riding on the constantly winding roads throughout stunning canyons and dangerous mountains? The challenge for riders will double when traversing through a thick blanket of fog in the early morning or late afternoon.
Along the roads, we are sometimes emotional with innocent mountainous children with a positive attitude in life which is reflected obviously via their shining smiles, despite the lack of life deprivation. Now, let’s hit the road!

You will meet your fellow riders and tour leader from Lao Cai, then head to Highway 4D, which spreads from Sapa to Muong Khuong. When riding on the spacious roads, we can sink into various iconic sceneries of Northwest Vietnam. Muong Khuong is brilliant in the dawn sunshine, blessed with majestic winding mountain ranges and colorful local roofs. The deepest impression is the curve roads getting into Muong Khuong, which are challenging for even the most skillful riders. However, you will get high after conquering such ways and encountering a plaque attributed to 9-year resistance warriors, or a strange emotion rose when standing on the border notice board.
Eventually, we will face Pha Long Border Station at the end of Muong Khuong. On the station’s right is a memorial plaque bearing the names of 37 Border guards who died at Pha Long in February 1979 while attacking the Chinese invaders. Coming here, you will be referred to bloody places in the fierce battle of 4 days and nights through stories of the elderly. It is the LoCo Chin Border Station, next to the milestone of 5 km; Fortress Le Dinh Chinh, about 200 meters from Don.

Today we continue to immerse ourselves in the rugged and winding roads, heading to Si Ma Cai, which is 40 km away from Pha Long Commune. Si Ma Cai is another hidden charming pearl of Northwest Vietnam. From the locals’ point of view, Si Ma Cai is Sapa’s sister. However, while Sapa has been luckily famous for many decades, Si Ma Cai remains a new remote district that is not easily accessible. It has striking natural scenes: epic rice terraces, buckwheat flower fields, imposing mountains, and exceptional valleys.
The vibrant cultural lifestyle of ethnic minority people is surely worth exploring. More than ten ethnic groups live in the district, creating tons of diverse activities. Can Cau market be the first and foremost spot we highly suggest for you in Si Ma Cai? Local cultural identity is expressed obviously through trading activities here with the local agricultural products, cattle, or even traditional brocade.

Let’s start the 3rd day of the tour by visiting Bac Ha market, which is impossible to ignore. From Bac Ha market, go about 45 km, cross the sloping Lung Cai mountain, pass the wind, and drop into the beautiful Nan Ma valley like water painting Coc Keo town. From there, run another 25km to reach the Xin Man border gate – the most remote place in Ha Giang. You should pay special attention to Lung Cai road, which is truly challenging for riders, even people who get no strange to adventurous roads, as it is covered by clouds all year round and crossed throughout by few people.
There are two ways to Cau Pai from Bac Ha; one is the muddy old road which has been remodeled about 25 km long, and the rest is only a level road covered in mossy slices. Can you imagine how we follow the shape of A? Bac Ha is the foot and then go through the dash to Coc Pai, climb to the top of the letter A, then slope to the other end. From Coc Pai, the road to the border market (Xin Man border gate) is only 25 km in length. We can stop a while from visiting Nam Dan ancient stones in Xi Man and then Thac Tien waterfall to enjoy the freshness. In the evening, to be well-rested, we stay in a hotel in town. Our last day still awaits us, so do not forget to sleep well!
