Off-road Sapa Motorbike Tour via Mu Cang Chai and Phu Yen – 3 days

Enjoy a delicious breakfast in Sapa before heading to Mu Cang Chai, famous for the breathtaking scenery of terraced rice fields and traditional lifestyle. It is a long ride from Sapa to Mu Cang Chai, and we have to spend more than 6 hours getting there. Our crew will follow Highway 32 to pass Hoang Lien Son – the highest mountain range in Vietnam, including the Fansipan peak with a height of 3142 meters above sea level. The scenery is so incredible that stop anywhere along the way and pick up your camera; you can get amazing works of art.

Keep riding on winding roads until you see the vast terraced fields, meaning you have reached Mu Cang Chai. Years ago, Mu Cang was called “The forgotten land in Vietnam” because of its remote location. Although it is more well-known by both domestic and foreign tourists, the area still retains its pristine beauty and unique cultural features. Each season brings its charm, but the best time to visit Mu Cang Chai is autumn (late September to mid-October), when the entire area is covered with the yellow of ripe rice. 

Then, we will cross Khau Pha Pass – one of the four great passes in Vietnam Northwest, admire the spectacular beauty of the terraced fields from above and explore the peaceful villages of the local people. In the evening, we will return to the hotel for dinner and rest and finish the first day of our 3-day motorbike tour from Sapa to Mu Cang Chai with full of memorable experiences.

Wake up early to have breakfast and prepare for a long journey with many surprises waiting for us ahead. Our next destination is Phu Yen, one of the mountainous provinces of Son La Province, Vietnam. Today, we need to conquer the 175 km long road. It is not easy at all, but once you come to Phu Yen, you will have the chance to admire the land’s unspoiled beauty at an altitude of 1000 m above sea level. With magnificent mountains, lush forests, and beautiful valleys nestled on the slopes, Phu Yen looks like an art painting, a masterpiece of nature.

Enjoy lunch with local specialties like Lam rice, grilled fish, hill chicken, and wild vegetables before deep diving into one of our tour’s most exciting parts – cloud hunting. Roaming on the beautiful roads, we will admire a vast sea of clouds embracing majestic mountains and immerse in natural landscapes – all will be the most memorable experience in your life. If you have enough time, you can also visit and take a boat trip on Suoi Chieu Lake. Do not forget to enjoy the fish dishes here. The fish caught at Suoi Chieu Lake is delicious and firm, then marinated with spices and grilled over charcoal, creating a tasty dish that can make you drool. After a long day, we will have a relaxing night at the homestay of the locals. Regain energy and get ready for the next trip.

Enjoy the last moments of our motorbike tour before returning to Hanoi. Today, we will wake up early to catch the dawn, have breakfast, and plan to explore the beautiful Phu Yen province. Our first destination is Don Ban Mo – a historical site located in Quang Huy commune, Dinh Chu, Phu Yen. It was known as a garrison where General Vo Nguyen Giap and his army stopped during the march to Dien Bien Phu during the Indochina War.

Ta Xua Nature Reserve is also a must-visit when visiting Phu Yen. We will ride on the little backbone of dinosaurs to conquer Ta Xua Peak, which is located at an altitude of 2,600 m above sea level. It will continue to be a hard journey, but the reward is worth it. Standing here is likely we are floating on the sea of clouds; our souls will be relaxed and free from the fatigue and sorrows of normal life. Do not forget to shoot some nice pictures to keep this memorable moment forever.

Later on, we ride back to the foot of the mountain to enjoy lunch and take a short rest before heading to Hanoi. Our team will follow dike roads to avoid traffic jams and once again have the chance to immerse in the peaceful beauty of vast rice fields and rural villages looming from a distance.
